Beginning in summer 2022, Pastor Dom had the opportunity to visit and teach in Ethiopia. During his time there, he became aware of different ways for the180 to serve our global church community. With this in mind, he and the elders began to discern ways to extend our impact.

The Need

As part of the discussion, we learned about the struggle of one community surrounding a Bible College in a small Ethiopian town called Teza Village. They were having a hard time obtaining clean water. Every morning, students walked long distances to an outdated and unreliable well to fetch water for basic needs like washing and drinking.

Now, together with the local people and Bible College, the180 is committed to partnering in the restoration of this water well. This project is about giving the church hope, and offering the local community a visible reminder that they are not alone in their struggles against poverty.

The Project

The goal of this project is to see local leaders use their skills and time to fix the well, while the financial support from the180 ensures sustainability. Through this effort, up to 5,000 people will gain direct access to clean, reliable water.

This project came to life through the collaboration of Teza Village, the local church, and the Ethiopian Kale Heywet Church Development Commission.

How You Can Help

The180 has committed to fund the whole project at a total cost of $20,000.  At the beginning of our 2024 budget, we set aside $10,000 to respond to this need. Now, we are in the process of raising the second half before the end of our financial year in December 2024.

You can give towards the project here.

Plus, on November 29, 2024, our youth have stepped up to play their part as they host the first ever the180 Youth Coffee House and all proceeds will go towards this project. Learn more.
