Grace Extended:
Lessons from the Book of Jonah
November Teaching Series
There are some stories that people have heard so often that they have lost their meaning. The story of Jonah may be one of those. For most, it’s a silly tale of a guy who gets swallowed up by a big fish. While it’s popular with little kids, we can forget that Jonah, the adult, has much to teach us as he disobeys and misses out on the gracious ways of God. Only when we slow down to read, study and learn what it says about God’s loving ways can we appreciate why the Book of Jonah remains so important for us today.
To help with that, we are spending the month of November taking a deeper look at the life of the Jonah and how it points to a God who extends his grace to those who never expect it. Also, it’s a time for us consider how God might use us to give back and to extend his grace and goodness to those around us.
Whether you are new to studying the Bible or a more mature Christian, this journey with the Old Testament prophet Jonah will surely stretch you to see and appreciate God’s loving and gracious ways towards us. What better way to have our hearts softened as we move closer and closer to Christmas.
