The Courage to Unlearn: Letting Go & Turning to Follow Jesus

Unlearning is about the deep work of growing. It brings together maturity, change, and humility with a willingness to recognize that some things we’ve assumed need our attention again. Jesus often taught by challenging what people thought they already knew about life and about God. Thus, following him was a process of unlearning which allows to see God, ourselves and the world differently.

This Fall, we want to enter into a courageous process of unlearning as a church—not to abandon what is true, but to listen more closely to Jesus as we find ways to reaffirm and recommit to his ways. Our prayer is that we would get serious about Paul’s instruction to

“ … put off your old self, which is being corrupted…[and] to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.” Ephesians 4:22:24
