Bitter Grace: What Happens [To Me] When God Doesn't Take Sides?

The final part of our "Bitter Grace" series from November 20, 2016.

This Sunday, Jean walked with us through the fourth and final chapter of the book of Jonah, showing us the power of anger, the place of discipleship and the practice of God's call in our lives. Jonah refuses to be like God and show compassion to the Ninevites but God hangs in there and keeps the conversation going. The books ends without a climax, and yet with a sense that God will overcome Jonah's resistance and that he will in fact become the God-like man he was intended to be.

Bitter Grace Series: What Are You Running From?

The intro to our "Bitter Grace" series from October 23, 2016.

This Sunday, Dom introduced us to the story of the prophet Jonah, an important story that can get lost somewhere as a fun story about the guy and the big fish. Yet Jesus himself points to Jonah as an essential story that reveals how "insiders" who seem committed to God can still have indifferent and hard hearts. Jonah's story has great wisdom for us today as we ask ourselves what we are running from.
