Bitter Grace: What Happens [To Me] When God Doesn't Take Sides?

The final part of our "Bitter Grace" series from November 20, 2016.

This Sunday, Jean walked with us through the fourth and final chapter of the book of Jonah, showing us the power of anger, the place of discipleship and the practice of God's call in our lives. Jonah refuses to be like God and show compassion to the Ninevites but God hangs in there and keeps the conversation going. The books ends without a climax, and yet with a sense that God will overcome Jonah's resistance and that he will in fact become the God-like man he was intended to be.

Bitter Grace: Learning to Pray from the Gut

The third part of our "Bitter Grace" series from November 6, 2016.

This Sunday, Matteo helped us look at Jonah's prayer from the belly of the whale, revealing that sometimes it takes being in the gut to start praying from the gut. Together we explored some of the barriers we experience to praying and the great resource we have in the Book of Psalms.
