WAITING & WATCHING IN WONDER:  2025 ADVENT SERIES

Watching the season of Christmas unfold in our culture can feel like being swept up into a red and green storm of holiday concerts, sugar cookies, and wrapping paper. While there is joy in some of this, it is easy to arrive at the end of December feeling stretched thin and empty.  It turns out that often what we need isn’t more activity or noise, but a new place to root our hopes and dreams. It is here that the church offers us a different way to approach the gift of Christmas in the season of Advent.

For centuries, Christians have observed the weeks leading up to Christmas in a special way. For the four weeks leading up to Christmas Eve, the church gives intentional space to pause to practice not rushing, but resting in God's promises and watching for new signs that He is up to something new.

While Advent isn’t a word you’ll find in the Bible, its rhythm emerges from biblical stories. Again and again through Scripture, we see a faithful God working as people wait: bringing life from barren wombs, offering hope to exiles, and entering the world not with hype or headlines, but through a baby born in obscurity.

As we slow our pace over the next four weeks, we’ll trace these patterns of God’s faithfulness and how He shows up in unexpected ways and places. Together, we’ll remember how quietly and unexpectedly Jesus came to us at Christmas and how we also look forward with hope to his return, trusting that God always keeps His promises.

This Advent, come and wait with us to watch and wonder how God might break through the noise and provide what we truly need.

Don’t miss a special Christmas Eve night of carols. More info coming soon.
